Failed Service Dog Reunites With Woman Who Raised Him — Now They’ll Never Be Apart!

a two-photo collage showing different screenshots of hospice worker reuniting with her dog taters.

A golden retriever named Taters is back to where he’s always belonged: in his human mother’s arms!

During his first year of life, this hospice worker (aka Taters’ mom) fostered this pup for Paws With A Cause, a nonprofit that trains dogs to become assistance dogs. As soon as he turned 1 year old, this foster mom had to give Taters back to this organization, which broke her heart.

“I never got over it,” she wrote.

However, they say that everything happens for a reason — and we can’t agree more! It turns out Taters failed as a service dog and was placed as a therapy dog instead. Since his former foster mom works in hospice, this “failure” meant he could go work with her and live with her forever.

After watching Taters’ reaction to seeing his human mom after one year apart, we think it’s safe to say he really missed her — and of course, his mom’s tears confirm that she really missed him too!

Taters and this hospice worker were meant to be together, and we are so glad everything worked out in their favor!

Watch their heartwarming reunion in the video below, and don’t forget to share with a friend.

@tontohart I foster raised taters for paws with a cause which trains dogs to be service dogs. I had to give taters back after he turned a year and I never got over it. I was absolutely heartbroken. A year later I got a call Taters failed as a service and placed as a therapy dog. Since I work in hospice, I get to bring my baby boy home to live with 4ever and work as my hospice therapy dog. We were meant to be and will bring comfort to so many. #reunion #goldenretriever #puppies #puppiesoftiktok #happyending ♬ original sound – TontoHart
