“I’ve Thought About Him Often.” 18-Yr-Long Search Reunites Man With His Stepdad.

The word “family” can apply to far more people than its definition implies.

Clark Buckner understands this first-hand through the relationship he had with his stepdad who was always doing his best to make him feel loved. But that changed when, at 13 years old, his stepdad was no longer able to be in his life.

In the 18 years that passed, Clark has thought about him often. He’s also tried finding him, but even knowing that he likely lives in Florida didn’t aid him in his search… at first, anyway. Recently, while doing a deep search online, Clark came across a phone number he thought was promising. But considering his past attempts, he didn’t have much hope… until a man answered his call in the middle of the night.

“No way,” his stepdad said when Clark introduced himself. “I think about you every day. How are you, buddy?”

After years of them both hoping they’d reunite one day, Clark and his wife flew to Florida so his stepdad could give them a tour of Tampa Bay as they caught up. So much time had passed since they last spoke, and so much had changed, but Clark was happy to share that he’s “still the kind, loving, and easy-going guy” he remembers.
