Matthew McConaughey is one of the world’s most famous actors… but you probably knew that already. What you might not have known is that off the screen he’s just as entertaining, wise and multi-faceted as the countless characters he’s portrayed.
For the graduation of the University of Houston’s 2015 class, Mr. McConaughey was invited to give the speech that would spring these young adults from the nest of structured, school life into the crazy and unorganized life of uncertainty and self-reliance… and Matthew’s speech certainly addressed that transition.
Here are 5 “Truth Bombs” he dropped on these new grads during his wisdom-filled speech:
1. Life is not easy.
“Don’t try and make it that way. It’s not fair, it never was, it isn’t now, it won’t ever be. Do not fall into the entitlement trap of feeling you are a victim, you are not. Get over it and get on with it. And yes, most things are more rewarding when you break a sweat to get ’em.”
