Jessica Cox was born with a rare, non-genetic birth defect that prevented her from having arms. You’d think that this handicap would be exactly that, but this incredible woman never let it limit her life.
Prepare to be astounded and deeply inspired.
When she was just 3 years old, Jessica was enrolled in gymnastics. At the age of 14, she achieved her first black belt. The list goes on and on. As Jessica said in the video, “As a young, little girl I was in just about everything… I did every activity you can imagine.”
Despite her adventurous personality there was one thing that scared her: flying. So when she was approached by a fighter pilot asking if she wanted to fly with him in a one engine plane… there was definite hesitation. With the encouragement of her parents, she finally mustered up the courage to get in the plane and take a ride that changed her life.
After 3 years, 3 different flight instructors and 80 miles of flight Jessica became the first ever certified armless licensed pilot in the world.
Not only is she a pilot, Jessica and her husband Patrick travel the world as motivational speakers. Their main message? Nothing is impossible – if you want to do something, never let anything get in your way.
“I knew that if I wanted to be a pilot I was going to do everything I could to make that happen.”
